I had an exhibition of paintings and lamps called 'Day Dreaming In Colour' held at the Hub Gallery Caboolture, for the month of February, 2017. I am pleased to say this was a great experience with a lot of positive responses from the public. Opened by Councillor Adam Hain with special guest The minister for police and Corrections MP Mark Ryan.
Don't Stop Daydreaming
For many Years we have been told daydreaming is counter productive. For myself, daydreaming is a source of self preservation and a chance to expand upon my creative thinking. I can switch off and step into an alternate state of imagination.
Daydreaming gives me opportunity to refocus. I find if I imagine myself floating above a scene of chaos, it's a detached focus, a safe place to refocus or just enjoy floating. Floating is a calming practise and it is this that I have tried to portray in my paintings. Some of the scenes are layered and chaotic, but floating puts you in the voyeur seat, the daydream dimension and you are in control.
Australian Artist Article - March 2017
I was again lucky to be a finalist in the 'Australian Artist' magazine. March edition 2017. They have published 3 works this time, which I was thrilled to see.
They have on the strength of the 2 finalist artwork challenges offered me a 4 page spread which will feature later in the year and also a demonstration article which I am working on. Quite a thrill.
